Bike check: Specialized Turbo Kenevo by MAGURA Ambassador Tibor Simai

Anything but standard. A closer look at the new E-MTB rocket from our MAGURA ambassador Tibor and his #customizeyourbrake brake setup.

Tibor Simai has lived by the motto “if, then right” for a long time. Formerly a BMX racer (multiple German champion), then an MTB professional and today a brand ambassador as well as a presenter & tester for the 1000 PS magazine. When Tibor tackles something, it does so at full throttle. No wonder that his new E-MTB also bears his own signature. The brute stealth look of the bike alone promises a lot!

Purpose & structure:

More trails in less time. While years ago as a gravity biker you were dependent on a lift ticket, modern E-MTBs now offer a new alternative to hit as many trails as possible in a short time. "The purpose is very clear: No lift on the domestic DH route!", Says Tibor. But it was clear to Tibor from the start that eMTBs shouldn't be off-the-peg: “I've never been able to ride off-the-peg. Customizing is my top priority. Not even the wheelset is off the shelf - stainless steel spokes for more durability and performance. On the one hand, I only drive parts that I trust 100%, on the other hand, it is exactly the manufacturers I worked with during my active time. Except for the gearshift and support, they were bought and I wanted to try that. "

Brake setup:
Of course, Tibor's custom structure doesn't stop at the brakes. As a longstanding MAGURA ambassador, he knows the range of brake parts like no other. Tibor used the eSTOP Parts from the #customizeyourbrake portfolio. A lot of power, stability and long-lasting performance for the increased weight and high speeds of E-MTBs of this type: “Yes, that is completely planned for me down to the last detail. MT5 for a little more piston retraction, that makes perfect sense for me with 220mm / 203mm MDR-P discs. I also think the look of the brake master of the MT5 is absolutely martial and with the Loic Bruni / HC-W levers top in modulation. It couldn't be any more and hotter! "
Even if the bike bears his signature, there is still room for improvement, because a lot of electronics on the bike can also have its downsides. "Can I get rid of something else? Here and there it already exists but I would like to mention it anyway. For all e-bikes, I would consider all parts that are built with electricity, e.g. Shift, seat post with connection to the battery. With a DIN standard connector, that would be a big step in the industry. Please do"
