MAGURA and Ca Go present cargo bike with innovative Integral Braking System (IBS)

At Eurobike 2023, the German brake specialist MAGURA presented the study of an Integral Braking System (IBS) for cargo bikes for the first time. Now the system is coming into series production!

In detail, the IBS works as a brake force distributor between the front and rear wheel brakes. The combined use of both brakes ensures better deceleration and stabilization of the vehicle.  Tests show that combined braking with the MAGURA Integral Braking System leads to a braking distance that is up to 40% shorter.

Together with the cargo bike specialist Ca Go, MAGURA is bringing the IBS onto the market this summer! Since the presentation of last year’s study, both brands have been in close communication to implement the final configuration of the system. Ca Go has been setting new standards for the safety and handling of cargo bikes for years, making the brand the ideal partner for introducing innovation. The system will initially be used on the Ca Go FS model.

The official presentation of the vehicle with IBS will take place from July 3rd at Eurobike 2024 in Frankfurt. Hall 11.1, Booth C24.

The MAGURA Integral Braking System in detail:

The IBS is active every time you brake and thus offers permanent optimization of driving dynamics. Independent of other components, it works without a power supply or sensors. The benefits include:

Vehicle stabilization
The braking combination of the front and rear wheels noticeably stabilizes the vehicle and thus ensures safe braking.

Shorter braking distance
Significant reduction in braking distance thanks to optimized braking force distribution – especially in critical unloaded conditions.  Up to 40% shorter braking distance compared to one-handed operation and therefore the same braking distance compared to very experienced professionals.

More even wear
The combination of braking of the front and rear wheels creates one-sided wear and extends the maintenance intervals (especially pad and disc wear).

Potential one-handed operation
The IBS is very comfortable and without security with a single main. (Due to legal requirements, two redundant braking systems are still installed on the vehicle.)
